Ruth Kirson
As a founding director, Ruth contributed to the Resilience Research Lab from 2006 until her retirement from VIU in 2024. Her background in developmental psychology and her passion for research contributed to the success of many students who went on to fulfilling careers in psychology. Ruth is now enjoying time spent with family and friends, swimming, running, reading and travelling!

Alex graduated from the Bachelor of Arts program majoring in Psychology, as well as from the Theatre and Performing Arts Diploma Program. Alex plans to pursue higher education in either clinical or counselling psychology. He is particularly interested in drama therapy and suicidology.

Ella graduated from VIU in 2023 with a major in psychology, and spent her final year in the lab as a research assistant. Her current interests include intimate relationships, human sexuality, and adaptability/coping in child immigrants. Her time working in the lab and collaborating with her peers inspired and prepared her for grad school as she works towards her career as a clinical counsellor.
