ANTH 111 - Making Venus Figurines For one assignment, students work on replicating Upper Palaeolithic Art. A Cross-Cultural Perspective, teaches cross-cultural methods of conveying oral history. In this class activity, students try their hand at string stories. ANTH 280 - String Stories Uh-oh, do I have enough fingers? ANTH 280 - String Stories Hey, can you do this? ANTH 316 - Warm Land Shelter Fundraiser Harold Joe, filmmaker, & Florence James, VIU Elder. A screening of Broken Down, a Harold Joe film, was held October 6, 2008, to raise funds for Warm Land Shelter. ANTH 316 - A Brunch for the Homeless On the Cowichan Campus, one student, Victoria (right) organized a brunch for the homeless after taking ANTH 316, Anthropology of Homelessness. ANTH 329 - The class For this class, students took an applied approach to planning and implementing a community oral history project. The session was on Cumberland's Past, Present, and Future. 2009 Anthropology Awards Reception Anthropology has been presenting the Anthropology Club Award since 2004. You Are Beautiful comes to the Cowichan Campus The "You Are Beautiful" project was started in Chicago in 2004 and quickly spread across the world. The goal of the project is to spread a positive message.
